The Ministry of Women and Children�s Affairs has expressed its displeasure and dismay at the decision of the appellate court to release the founder of Jesus Blood Prophetic Ministry, Nana Kofi Yirenkyi, alias Jesus One Touch, who was convicted by the Accra Gender-Based Violence Court last year, for defiling his 10-year-old daughter.
Nana Yirenkyi, who was convicted on two counts of defilement and incest and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, was released on appeal after serving five months in jail.
A statement issued by the Ministry on April 5, 2012 and signed by Mr. Gershon K. Kumor, Chief Director, said �the development had cast a slur on the Domestic Violence Act, 2007, Act 732 and other Human Rights Instruments which seek to protect the rights of women and children, as well as efforts being made to fight domestic violence in the country.�
The Ministry assured the public that it would consult the appropriate government agencies �to ensure that justice is served appropriately.�
