Kpatinga Curfew Extended For One More Week

The curfew on Kpatinga in the Northern region of Ghana has been extended for one more week. The Northern Regional Security Council in consultation with the Ministry of Interior imposed an 8pm to 6am curfew on the town and its environs two weeks ago, following the continuous days of unrest in that area. The melee erupted as a result of the arrest of a rival chief, Naa Naatogmah Ziblim. The Northern Regional Security Council at a meeting on Wednesday concluded the curfew must be retained due to the porous security situation in the town. According to the Northern Regional Minister, Moses Mabengba, the curfew could be lifted soon, but the extension was necessary to strengthen the peace in the area.
