Asante Kotoko 2-1 Hearts of Oak; Hearts Unable To Tame Porcupine Warriors

League leaders Kumasi Asante Kotoko has beaten bitter rivals Accra Hearts of Oak by two goals to one at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Ghana's version of the El Classico en route to winning their 22nd league title with six matches remaining. Kofi Nti Boakye opened the scoreline with a header from a well taken corner kick in the 38th minute. Laryea Kingston was sent off in the 47th minute for a rough tackle on Kotoko's Baba Abdul Rahman while Goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy who injured his finger in trying to save a Daniel Nii Agyei shot in the 65th minute was replaced by former national goalie Sammy Adjei. Mahatma Otoo equalized in the 94th minute with a powerful free kick after time added on which could have sealed the game but midfielder Michael Akuffo scored in the 95th minute with a powerful long range strike dramatically to give the porcupine warriors a win.
