A 24-year-old trader is in the grips of the Tesano Branch of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) for stealing a two-month-old baby girl at Circle. Abigail Asabea, a native of Osino, Eastern Region, was said to have lured the babys mother from Bonfa in the Ashanti Region to Accra, Circle, where she took the baby from the mother and bolted. She was later found by the police with the child at Osino where she lives together with the husband. Experanza Ayesu-Danso, the Tesano Divisional DOVVSU Officer, told DAILY GUIDE that the baby was stolen on Good Friday, April 6, 2012. Information gathered indicated that Abigail Asabea, a trader and married woman, visited Bonfa in the Ashanti Region to look for one Maa Abena, a friend. After attempts to locate the said Maa Abena had failed, Esther Leek, 24, mother of the baby, and her husband, offered to shelter the suspect in their home until she found the said friend. After staying with the victims family for two weeks and unable to find the said friend, Abigail told the guardians that she wanted to travel back to Odumasi Konogo where she claimed to live. She also told couple that before she left, she would want to take the nursing mother and the baby for shopping on Good Friday just to show her appreciation for their hospitality.
