Victory Against Hearts Was For Only Pride - Godwin Ablordey

The team Manager and former skipper of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Godwin Ablordey has declared his team as champions of the 2011/2012 Glo Premier League. Speaking to Sir Kaka after their victory over Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, he said Kotoko won the trophy long time ago and hence the victory against Hearts was for only pride and earned them a bragging right. The team Manager told Captivating Ghana Sports that there is no team in the league worth winning the league than Kotoko judging from performance wise. We have the best attack and a resolute defence as well. He said he was very happy being a former captain, and now as team manager he will do anything humanly possible to place kotoko on top of world football. Ablordey who joined Kotoko in the 1998/1999 season was instrumental in the clubs successes during the erstwhile Herbert Mensahs administration. He was credited for bringing team unity during his days at the club and was noted for paying bonuses of players during the absence of the clubs Executive Chairman. He left Kotoko in 2003 for city rivals King Faisal before continuing his career in the Arab world. Kotoko now occupies the top spot with 52 points plus 22 goals with just six matches to end the season.
