Ashaiman MCE Reacts

The Ashaiman Municipal Chief Executive, Numo Adinortey Addison, has called on members of the public to disregard a recent call by some people in the municipality that he should be removed from office because he had not performed well since his appointment. According to him, those who made the call at a press conference at Ashaiman and called on the president to remove him from office were not following the ongoing development in the municipality since he assumed office as Chief Executive of the assembly. The MCE was reacting to a publication carried on the Tuesday, April, 2012 edition of Today newspaper in which a group calling itself Concerned Group of Ashaiman petitioned the president to sack the MCE because he had failed at achieving the presidents Better Ghana Agenda. In the said publication, the group threatened to vote skirt and blouse if the development in the area remained the same claiming that the MCE had very little to show in terms of development of the area. The MCE, however, revealed that there was no youth group in the municipality known by that name, attributing it to a few disgruntled people who for their selfish reasons have refused to see the ongoing development in Ashaiman. Touching on some developmental projects he has undertaken since he became the MCE for Ashaiman, he stated that he has lobbied for the expansion of the dual carriage road from the underpass to the Ashaiman roundabout. He said the Ashaiman cluster of schools which was built in1962 and served the municipality since then has an additional three cluster of schools added to it to completely abolish the shift system in the municipality. In addition to this, an ICT center and a modern library has been provided in the cluster of schools to improve the quality of education in the school. The MCE also noted that major roads in the municipality have seen some facelift with drains also been constructed at the various markets in Ashaiman. He also noted that there was ongoing works at the Adjor, Valco flat and the Ashaiman main markets which would be completed soon. Mr. Addison has therefore entreated all those living in Ashaiman to seek the needed information from the assembly when they have doubts about anything rather than rush to the media to seek redress. He further called on the general public to treat the said publication with the contempt it deserves.
