Akwasi Appiah says active players will have priority in call ups to the Black Stars. The ex Ghana captain was on Tuesday unveiled to the media as the new Black Stars coach tasked with qualifying and winning the 2013 Nations Cup and also to reach the semi finals of the 2014 World Cup. Appiah who played in the Ghana shirt for five years says he is bent on succeeding and will crucially select the best available materials to ensure he meets his targets. �First and foremost we will be looking at active players and then players with experience based on what they have done before,� he said at his first organized press conference. �Remember when anything goes wrong it is my head that is on the chopping block so you can be rest assured that we will select the best for the national team.� Appiah takes over from Serbian Goran Stevanovic who was dismissed following Ghana�s failure to win the 2012 Nations Cup. This has led to heightened stakes with regards to the Ghana coaching post but the soft-spoken Appiah insists he is prepared to deal with the pressure that comes with the job. �Automatically there will be some amount of pressure but I am prepared to deal with it. I have always had senior men around me who always give me advice. �When you take up a coaching job and you are not prepared for insults then it is better you don�t take the job. �Football is about win, lose or draw and as a coach you should be prepared for any of these results but I will do my best to ensure we win more games.�
