Four Ghanaian Policemen Arrested In Togo

Four Ghanaian policemen were on Saturday morning arrested in neighbouring Togo for entering illegally with a police vehicle. The armed security personnel allegedly entered the French-speaking country through an unapproved entry point in the border town of Zukpe of the Ho Municipality. The Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Alex Bebie confirmed the arrest to Citifmonline.com, but refused to give further details. According to Citi News Volta Regional correspondent, Felix Agbenyo, the Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Kotobisa, was in Togo around 2pm to secure their release. However, the political head in the municipality has denied that speculation. Thats not true. I have not intervened in any case and I only went on monitoring. I went on patrol around those areas because it is a border line, Mr. Kotobisa told Accra-based Joy FM. He added: I have no knowledge of that please. Our correspondent also confirmed that two of the released police officers were at post when he visited the area. He told Citifmonline.com the policemen might have mistakenly entered into a different jurisdiction because the place is a remote area and there is no demarcation. So it is difficult to tell whether you are in Togo or Ghana and that might have accounted for this incident.
