John Pantsil: Black Magic Allegation Has Tarnished Our Image

Ghana defender John Pantsil says allegations of using black magic at the 2012 Nations Cup have tarnished the image of the national team. Serbian trainer Goran Stevanovic- who led the team at the tournament- cited in his leaked technical report that his players accused each other of using voodoo to destroy themselves. But the out-of-favour Leicester City right-back has denied anything of such sort happened in camp. The Juju allegation has really disgraced and painted us black. It was all over the foreign media, the 30-year-old local radio station Happy FM. I can vouch for my colleagues that nothing of that sort happened in camp, we dont practice juju. If juju really works, we would have been supermen because it is believed that juju exists in Africa. Pantsil-who has played in four Nations Cup finals-also added that they were destined not to win the tournament hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. We dont fight in camp as it is perceived by many. We got to the semi final because that was where God wanted us to get to. We were more than disappointed. We have learnt our lessons well, and will finish the unfinished business in future competitions. Pantsil is expected to be invited for the 2014 FIFA World Cup double-header qualifiers against Lesotho and Zambia in June.
