National Player Awards Set For Grand Launch

The official launch of the maiden National Player Awards will be held on Saturday at the Lizzy Sports Complex, organizers have confirmed. The grand occasion will be used to announce the date and venue of the actual awards ceremony and also to unveil the various categories to be contested. A seven-member panel chaired by ex Ghana FA boss Ben Koufie is tasked with identifying and shortlisting potential winners of the prestigious awards in these categories. The awards being organized by Proton Sports Services under the auspices of the Ghana FA and the Retired Players Association of Ghana (RENFAG) is aimed at honouring individuals who have played for the nation at various levels including the womens teams. Special awards will also be handed out to the victorious Ghana saquads that won the Nations Cup in 1963, 65, 78 and 82. The current generation of national team players will also receive awards at the maiden event. The awards scheme feeds into the Ghana FAs idea of acknowledging and rewarding past national stars who are unfortunately facing difficult times.
