Further Delay In Naming 2013 Africa Cup Of Nations Cities

The decision on the host cities for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa has once again been delayed. The South Africa government cancelled the 3 May announcement saying it is yet to finalise the five venues for the tournament. No new date for a final decision has been given yet. It is the third delay to the announcement of the host cities having originally been scheduled for 4 April only to be postponed to 20 April. Eight cities made their original presentations to the LOC on 21 March but financial worries led to bidders like Johannesburg and Cape Town refusing to sign an agreement until certain issues are resolved. This led to the South African government deciding it would help with covering the costs of the host cities. As a result an Inter-Ministerial Committee was set-up to further engage with the Local Organising Committee and discuss all matters pertaining to government guarantees and related issues.
