BNI Storms North Star Radio In Tamale

Some officers of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) stormed the offices of Tamale-based North Star Radio during the early hours of Thursday. This followed a press statement that was being discussed during the stations morning show programme. According to Citi News sources, the said statement was issued by an independent parliamentary candidate for Tamale Central constituency, Mahama Shaibu. Shaibu indicted the current Northern Regional Minister, Moses Bukari Mabengba over his alleged genocidal comments that he made in Parliament during the Konkomba-Dagomba conflict. An eyewitness and a member of the North Star fraternity, Akbar Khomeini confirmed the raid to Citi News. According to him, the BNI officers stormed the station in demand of a copy of the statement. He said nobody was arrested or molested during their unannounced visit but described the action as needless. Khomeini concluded that the action formed part of governments failed attempt to frighten the stations management to change its modus operandi.
