GNFS To Punish Disgruntled Junior Officers

All junior officers of the Ghana National Fire Service who have openly expressed their displeasure at their senior colleagues over the delay in promoting them will be punished by the service. Many of the junior officers say even though they have upgraded themselves academically, the service has blatantly refused to promote them as is required. The disgruntled fire fighters argue they have worked for over nine years without promotion. The Fire Service however says upgrading oneself does not necessarily guarantee an automatic promotion. Deputy Director of Public Relations of the service, Prince Anaglatey told XYZ News the officers violated the code of conduct of the service by their action. He said, per the requirement of the service, junior officers who have upgraded themselves must go through an interview process in order for the service to test the suitability of their competence to specific needs and that merely upgrading ones educational level does not guarantee promotion. He said there is enough vacancy that must be filled but the service is going through the laid down procedure to ensure that the right things are done before the officers can be promoted. He also urged them to be patient as the procedure is observed to the letter.
