The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate of Ave-Avenor, which consists of the Akatsi District, Leo-Nelson Adzidogah has described the 20-year reign of the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Edward Doe Adjaho as unproductive.
According to him, despite the influence of Doe Adjaho in the two administrations of the ruling NDC, he had failed to develop the area.
He noted that the MP lacks vision, ingenuity and lobbying skills to facilitate development in the constituency and for that matter the district.
Leo-Nelson Adzidogah, who is fondly called �Homeboy� by his constituents, made the remark during a press conference in Akatsi, which was dubbed, �The state of Ave-Avenor constituency, the performance of the NDC government and the Member of Parliament.�
Mr. Adzidogah, who is seeking the mandate of the people in the forthcoming December 2012, noted that the incumbent MP had outlived his usefulness.
He noted that the onus lies on the constituents to elect a new blood to inject new life into the constituency.
There is no single tarred road in the constituency, except the Tema-Akatsi highway, he indicated.
�The Akatsi-Ziope road was started during the Rawlings� era, but the roads are all in a deplorable state, including the one in Adjaho�s hometown, Wlite.
�More so a grader procured during the erstwhile NPP government to grade the road networks in the district has not been operational for the past six months. The people in the district capital, Akatsi and environs do not have inadequate water supply.
�During the dry season the people find it difficult to get water and in most cases, the little they have along the streams is shared with cattle,� he noted.
He wondered why people in Akatsi, which is also close to Sogakofe were not enjoying water supply from the Sogakofe Dam like Anloga and Keta which are further away.
Homeboy also expressed worry about the fallen standards of education in the area, which culminated in the abysmal results recorded in the 2011 BECE.
He stressed that Mr. Doe Adjaho, with the assistance of the DCE, Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, named the Akatsi Library after Doe Adjaho.
He alleged that the project was initiated and completed during the erstwhile NPP government, claiming they named the library after Doe Adjaho without the consent of the assembly members.
