Kotoko Excel At Awards Ceremony

Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club (SC) at the weekend swept a total of five awards at the Glo Premier League Awards ceremony for the 2011/2012 League season held at the Golden Tulip, Kumasi City in Kumasi. The event, the first to be held outside Accra since its inception seven years ago, was designed to honour players, coaches, club administrators, officials, individuals and corporate institutions whose immense contributions helped to ensure the success of the League. It was under the auspices of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the Professional League Board (PLB) and Glo Mobile Ghana, title sponsors of the League. Kotoko�s midfielder, Dan Nii Adjei crowned an excellent night for the Porcupine Warriors as he took home the 'Most Value Player' (MVP) of the Year Award.He was presented with a plaque and a cheque of 5,000 Ghana Cedis. Coach Maxwell Konadu of Kotoko emerged the Best Coach of the Year, while stalwart defender of the Club, Awal Mohammed claimed the Best Defender of the Year Award, and both were presented with plaques and cash prizes. Kotoko�s Dr Kofi Kodua Sarpong won the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Year Award, while Club of the Year Award went to Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC. For their prize, Kotoko was presented with a mini-bus which would be donated to the Club officially in July, this year. The Best Goalkeeper of the Year Award went to Robert Dabuo of Wa All Stars SC, Emmanuel Baffour of New Edubiase FC who netted a total of 21 goals took home the Goal king Award, and both were also presented with plaques and cash prizes. Joshua Oninku of Tema Youth Sc emerged as the Discovery of the Year and received a plaque and cash prize as his award. The Best-Behaved Club and Best Supporting Club Awards went to Wa All Stars, while all the other participating Clubs in the League were also given certificates of honour. Mr Emmanuel Offei won the Best PLB Cameraman Award, while Messrs Danies Odeneho Appiah (Adom FM), Kuntu Blankson (Sky Power FM), Benedict Mensah (Oman FM), Barima Otuo Acheampong (Hot FM), as well as Prince Annan and Micheal Katahena (Metro TV), were honoured for their commitment to the success of the local League. Messrs Kwabena Yeboah (Africa Sports), Kingsley Hope (Ghanaian Times) and Kwame Asare Boadu (Daily Graphic), were also awarded for their extensive coverage of the League. In the Corporate Awards category, Kasapreko Company Limited, Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited, Glo Mobile Ghana, OMP and Metro TV, were all awarded for their commitment to the support of the League. Special awards were also presented to Mr Mark Addo and Mrs Samira Ghartey, all employees of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for their commitment to duty. Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the GFA also took home a special award for his dedication to the cause of the Ghanaian game.
