The deputy Local Government Minister, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, has served notice he will resign from office if the publicised figures of President Mills� achievements in infrastructural development across the country are proven wrong. According to the Minister, his outfit has documentary and physical evidence to challenge any detractors who advocate that the Mills-led administration has failed to deliver the much touted "Better Ghana" agenda. Speaking on Citi FM�s weekly news analysis programme, Inside Politics, Hon. Ankrah opined �when people are saying in Accra that nothing is being done, we have a responsibility to come and tell the people that these are the things we have done." He added: "I will challenge you� at our own expense, get your other colleagues, we will take you to see what we have put down. We will go and ascertain and come back and then tell me what we have said is not true! I will put my job on the line� I challenge anybody and we will show you. You will go and see for yourself.� The Minister�s comments follow objections from the members of the opposition NPP alleging that some of the published assertions of the NDC government are erroneous. A former Local Government and Rural Development Minister, Stephen Asamoah Boateng is quoted to have described the assertions of government as �over blowing� their horn and �throwing figures about�. At a Forum For Setting the Records Straight held on Tuesday, the National Democratic Congress claimed that what President Mills' administration had achieved for Ghana within the space of three years, far "outclassed" what the New Patriotic Party (NPP), under ex-President Kufuor did in eight years. Further driving home the point, Hon. Ankrah noted that �I am sure you know about the Millennium schools where the shift system has been abolished, I'm sure you know about the rehabilitation of roads, I'm sure you have seen the solar-powered streetlights, I'm sure you have seen unprecedented in the history of this country; Fire Service trucks to all the districts in the country, I'm sure you have seen the airport expansion project� There is a lot going on.� Responding to the questions on the timing of the release of government's achievements, he noted, �when you are in government your approach to these things are different. For the first three and half years, we needed to spend time doing the works. Assuming that in the first, second, third year; every day I come and sit in this studio, what am I going to talk about?� "The reason why we had to keep our cool and speak at the right time is because we have a responsibility, we have a manifesto. People were going to judge us by what we had done. On the basis of that we needed to focus on the better Ghana agenda. Now we are getting to the end of our term and it�s about time we get back to our people to account for our stewardship. We are showing the people of Ghana that indeed we have a lot,� he added.
