Former President Prof. John Fiifi Atta Mills, 68, is the first Ghanaian President to have died while in office and thus not been able to complete his first term. The late President Mills passed away on Tuesday July 24 at the 37 Military Hospital at 14.15 GMT. He has been in power since 2009. President Mills a few weeks ago returned to Ghana after visiting the US for medical check-up. As the world joins hands with over 24 million Ghanaians mourning the death of her President, Prof. John Fiifi Atta Mills, thoughts and memories are evoked of other leaders who passed away in similar fashion. Here is a list of other African Presidents who passed away while in office and some of words we will remember them by. 1. Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, President of Nigeria (2010): "At the moment, I am undergoing treatment, and I am getting better from the treatment. I hope that very soon there will be tremendous progress, which will allow me to get back home" 6. Malam Bacai Sanh�, President of Guinea (2012): "I am as healthy as a palm nut� I did not come to Dakar on a stretcher. I walked ... after getting off the airplane. I am doing well now 7. Bingu wa Mutharika, President of Malawi (2012): 'I promised you that I will never leave country and run away. So even if people want to kill me, they will have to do that here in Malawi! � 8. John Atta Mills, President of Ghana (2012): �Ghana wishes to reaffirm its fullest commitment to the ideals of the United Nations and advocates the mustering of the necessary political will that will allow the United Nations to function more effectively and efficiently.�
