The High Court in Accra trying business man, Alfred Agbesi Woyome has adjourned the trial in respect of the one-week mourning period declared in honour of the late president Mills.
The interrogation of former Sports Minister, Mr. Osafo Marfo was expected to continue today but he sent a message to the court requesting he be granted the permission to mourn the president.
The legal team of Mr. Woyome, who is also a close ally of the late president, obliged to the request necessitating Justice Ajet Nasam�s decision to adjourn to the 30th of July.
Speaking to Citi News, lawyer for Alfred Agbesi Woyome, Musah Ahmed said, �he sent a message through the prosecution team that he had a special relationship with the Ex President during his lifetime, they had been classmates at Achimota School, they had been friends through university and so it will be insensitive on his part to attend the court today in view of the demise of his brother, friend and pesident.�
He further explained that �we all had to oblige because we can�t be insensitive to the fact that the late Professor Mills was the President of Ghana and a lawyer as well.�
Meanwhile, at the courts today, many people including judges and lawyers were seen in mourning attire of black with a touch of red.
Proceedings were on-going in the various courtrooms but activities were being carried out in somber mood.
Alfred Agbesi Woyome himself was dressed in black in honour of the death of his former ally, the late president John Evans Atta Mills.
