Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur on Sunday paid a courtesy all on the Chiefs of the Oguaa Traditional Council in Cape Coast after attending and addressing the thanksgiving service of the late President John Evans Atta Mills.
He used the occasion to formally introduce himself on his new political status as Vice President, to the traditional authorities and to solicit their co-operation in the governance process.
The 61 year old economist was the immediate past Governor of the Central Bank of Ghana.
Mr Amissah-Arthur, who was also a former Deputy Minister of Finance got the nod from Parliament for the second highest position in the country when the seat became vacant after the then Vice President Mr John Dramani Mahama rose to the number one position following the death of President John Evans Atta Mills.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur, who hails from the historical town of Cape Coast, lauded the rich wisdom and experience of the traditional rulers, and requested their cooperation in the discharge of his new functions.
He presented some gifts to the traditional chiefs. Osabarima Kwesi Atta, the Paramount Chief, pledged the co-operation of the chiefs. The Vice President later called on the family of the late President before leaving for Accra.
