The Constitution Review Commission (CRC) is recommending that government should create an economic capital and leave Accra as the political capital of the Nation.
A member of the CRC, Gabriel Scott Pwamang explained that the country will be strategically positioned to benefit since Accra is congested.
He said: currently, Accra has become very congested and very difficult to move around and government business is slow.
According to him, other countries such as Tanzania and Nigeria have built a capital for administration so the submission is, can we look at that policy, he asked.
Mr. Pwamang further explained that the Commission believes that it is a reasonable proposal for a reasonable foundation and that in terms of policy guidance, we are recommending it for the future.
He said this matter cannot be passed by an act of Parliament but it is an administrative recommendation which will be useful in managing Accra.
