EC Certifies NDP To Start Political Activities

The newly formed National Democratic Party (NDP) has received its provisional certificate from the Electoral Commission to operate as a political party in Ghana. The provisional certificate was presented to the leadership of the party by the Deputy Commissioner of the Electoral Commission in charge of Finance and Administration, Alhaji Amadu. The leadership of the NDP was led by the interim Chairman, Dr. Josiah Aryee with other leading members including the Dr. Kwasi Offei Agyeman and the acting General Secretary, Dr. Joseph Mamboa Rockson. According to Citi Fms Sammi Wiafe who was at the EC head office, Alhaji Amadu admonished them to conduct their campaigns in a civil manner towards the December general elections. Dr. Aryee expressed delight at the provisional certificate given them to operate and promised to ensure they actively play their role as a political party in the country. Sammi Wiafe reported that hundreds of supporters of the NDP thronged the Electoral Commissions premises to render their support to the leadership of the party. He also mentioned that the party supporters have expressed a firm conviction that the NDP has come to stay and is the beginning of a new dawn. Dr. Aryee however dismissed speculations that the Rawlingses are behind the formation of the NDP because according to him, if they indeed were, they would have been present at the ECs office, said Sammi Wiafe. The party will by the end of October elect national executives and kick start their operations ahead of the December polls.
