Eighty-One Persons Arrested For Kidnapping Boy At Akoepe

The Police on Wednesday morning arrested 81 persons at Akoepe near Ho in the Volta Region, in connection with the kidnapping of Joe Osei, an 11-year old boy. Nine other persons suspected to be linked to the alleged crime, who also attacked Mr Kofi Osei, a farmer, and his wife, parents of Joe Osei, were arrested last Tuesday. Mr Alex Bedie, Volta Regional Police Commander, told journalists at Ho that on August 11 this year, a mob of about 100 at Akoepe, marched to Kofi Oseis farm and attacked him and his wife for allegedly using juju to kill Emmanuel Dike Sokro. The Regional Police Commander said the mob also ransacked Mr Oseis room and set it ablaze. Mr Bedie said Mr Osei and his wife managed to escape but their son Joe Osei was missing and GHS 1,500, stolen from their room. Mr Bedie said the police were investigating the matter and making efforts to find Joe Osei, and called for the assistance of the public.
