All people who are desirous of visiting the grave of Prof. J.E.A. Mills, at the Asomdwe (peace) Park still have the opportunity to do so following the decision of the Funeral Planning Committee (FPC), to extend public visits to the burial venue to Monday, August 20, 2012.
The FPC originally fixed Sunday, August 19, 2012 as the deadline for closure of the Park to the public but for the fact that Monday is a public holiday in view of the celebration of Eid-Ul-Fitr, a day�s extension has been given.
The Chairman of the committee, Mr Kofi Totobi-Kwakye, announced this to journalists in Accra Friday after he led other members of the committee to lay a wreath in remembrance of the late Ghanaian leader.
Many journalists who trooped to the Park, in anticipation of a news conference by the FPC, were disappointed at the turn of events.
This followed a much publicised announcement that the FPC would hold a news conference at the Park to account to Ghanaians, the expenditure on the funeral of the late President.
The FPC members rather laid a wreath, after which Rev. Gifty Lamptey of the Action Faith Ministry International, led a prayer session.
Mr Totobi-Kwakye expressed appreciation to the millions of mourners in Ghana and across the world for extending a hand of support to the Ghana Government before, during and after the funeral.
He, however, announced that the FPC would hold a news conference next week to apprise Ghanaians of the funeral expenditure and other issues.
