Fix Broken Bridge Or Lose Our Votes Student Union

A Student Union in Nakorlor, a farming community in the Kassena Nankana West District of the Upper East Region has given government up to November to fix a broken bridge and the only school in the community or risk losing their vote in the December polls. According to them, the current state of the bridge hampers the mobility of the residents as it links about four communities in the area to the district capital, Paga. The roof of the only school in the community was also ripped off by a storm which has stopped schooling activities for weeks now. According to Citi News Upper East Regional correspondent, Agana Bawa, the members of the group have threatened to disenfranchise themselves from any electoral activities and will also make sure that no political activity is also organized in the area if their concerns are not addressed. Agana Bawa also reported that three live have already been lost including a pregnant woman in labour due to their inability to use the bridge to access health care at Paga. The group is also calling for the provision of potable water, electricity and accommodation for teachers posted to the community.
