Mahama Appeals To Abudus And Andanis To Unite

President Mahama has appealed to the longstanding chieftaincy rivals Abudus and Andanis in the Northern region to smoke the peace pipe. The two ethnic groups have been at each others throat recurrently in the past. Things got to a head when the late Dagbon Overlord Ya Na Yakubu Andani was beheaded in 200. Relations between the two groups have been fraught with acrimony and occasional conflicts ever since. Attempts by a Committee of eminent chiefs chaired by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu yielded little results. President Mahama took advantage of his Thank You Tour of the region today to ask for peace to prevail between the two feuding sides. According to him, his only interest in the matter is to ensure that both factions come together and solve their problems. President Mahama also stated that he will ensure that violence in the Northern region becomes a thing of the past. Addressing a mammoth crowd at the Jubilee Park in the region, the President appealed with the Northerners to refrain from acts that could plunge the region into violence. President Mahama said the Northern Part of Ghana has always been tagged as a violence prone area and notoriously known across the country as a conflict zone saying the time has come to residents of the region to finally shrug off that tag and ensure that this years election is conducted in a violent free atmosphere.
