Load Shedding Likely To Continue To 2013

The Electricity Company of Ghana says the ongoing load shedding exercise is likely to continue to 2013. The current national power crisis resulted from a halt of gas supply from Nigeria to Ghana following a breakdown at the West Africa Pipeline. Power supply from the Volta River Authority has been reduced drastically while the Sunon Asogli Plant has been shut down. Director of Operations at the Electricity Company, Tetteh Okine in an interview with XYZ News said electricity flow will be restored only after the damaged pipelines are repaired. The gas pipeline is still out of works so the production of gas is still out Mr. Tetteh Okine said. Mr. Okine added I have heard that the West African Pipeline Company say they will finish the work in December so if that is when they will finish the work then that is when we will get generation from gas which means the load shedding will continue till that time.
