Gt Accra Elections Security Task Force Inaugurated

The Greater Accra Regional Elections Security Task Force was inaugurated in Accra The 13 members of the task force are drawn from all the security agencies obligated to ensure peace and security before, during and after the 2012 elections. The members are the Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP P.E. Timbillah, Chairman; the Deputy Regional Police Commander, DCOP Christian T. Yohuno; Mr Dennis Ribero-Addy, Lt Col L. K. Gbedema, Mr Owusu-Amponsah, Mr Kwame Kwarteng, Ms Baaba Asare and Mr T. Quarshie. The rest are the Greater Accra Regional Director of the BNI, Mr Opoku Acheampong; the Accra Regional Police Crime Officer, Supt F. Adufati; the Assistant Director of the Regional Coordinating Council, Mr Saka Dramani; the Accra Regional Police Operational Commander, Supt Sylvester Bayuo, and the Staff Officer, DSP E. A. Asiedu. DCOP Timbillah said the security services were determined to ensure that the December elections would be as peaceful as possible and appealed to the public to obey the rules and regulations governing the elections. He also appealed to the major stakeholders to do what was expected of them and called on the media to be circumspect in their reportage. In another development, the police have acquired a vast tract of land to accommodate all accident vehicles in the Greater Accra Region. The acquisition of the land followed a recent instruction by the Minister of the Interior, Mr William K. Aboah, to rid the police stations of accident vehicles when he paid a visit to the various police stations in Accra. According to the Accra Regional Police Commander, the exercise would help decongest the police stations that were home to accident vehicles. DCOP Timbilla said the Police Vehicle Recovery Point, which is situated at Sowutuom, would be guarded by policemen every day.
