Ghana Will Be Peaceful - Nana Akufo Addo

The Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, has assured Ghanaians he will work to ensure the stability of security of Ghana throughout the electioneering period. Speaking during a historic meeting with the founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), former President Jerry John Rawlings, the NPP flagbearer pointed out that the visit was a clear sign of this commitment. I am hoping that, Mr. President, this my visit is first in the series of signals, that we will arrive at that results where people will feel secured that no matter what happens in the change of power, their basic political civil rights and their own personal lives are not endangered in any way. I think its very important, Nana Addo said. Let me reassure the Ghanaian people that come what may in the December elections the stability of the country, the peace and unity of our country, all of those will be guaranteed, the opposition leader pointed out. Because that is where we have to get to in Ghana, a situation whereby a change in government in itself doesn't pose a threat or danger to any particular section of our society. Nana Addo further pointed out that I am very keen that the signal goes out and that is part of the reasons why I came to visit you. At the end of the day because we are public people committed to the welfare of our country and we find it possible to sit down and talk about matters of mutual interest. So definitely I dont have any difficulty in giving this assurance. There is nothing for anybody to be afraid of. We will cooperate with the State and its institutions and its regulations. And it is incumbent upon all of us to follow them and give our people the good governance that we are capable of, Nana Addo opined.
