Sources close to the former head of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization (CTO) Ekwow Spio Garbrah have dissociated the former Presidential aspirant from the National Democratic Party and its flagbearer former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings. They say Dr. Spio Garbrah, who is currently in South Africa, is not in any way interested in partnering Mrs. Rawlings as her running mate for the December polls as has been speculated in some media. The sources say Dr. Spio Garbrah remains a member of the NDC and also supports President Mahama. The names of Dr. Spio Garbrah and former Attorney General Martin Amidu have been widely speculated as possible running mates to Mrs Rawlings. But an aide to Dr. Spio Garbrah in an interview with XYZ News said his boss has never held any meetings with Nana Konadu in that regard. Mr. Kweku Ampah said Dr. Spio Garbrah is committed to ensuring that the NDC candidate John Mahama wins the December elections and has no intention of supporting the former First Lady and the NDP.
