NDC Member Threatens To Shoot Ken Agyepong

The youth wing of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a distressful release expressing their utmost fear and displeasure on a public acclamation of threat on the life of Hon. Kennedy Agyepong, NPP Member of Parliament for Assin North. The release jointly signed by the Deputy and acting National Youth organizer, Emmanuel Danso Atefua and the Youth wing Administrator, Nana Prempeh Agyemang indicated an alleged threat of life perpetrated by one Mary Kay, a member of the NDC communication team and also a member of president John Mahama's campaign team, when she publicly announced on Radio Gold over the weekend that, "she will shoot Hon. Kennedy Agyepong, a sitting member of parliament of the Republic of Ghana where ever she meets him and go to prison for that", it stated. Another caller by name Chris according to the release also seconded the peril started by Mary Kay with his own threat to shut up the Assin North MP wherever he meets him and serve prison term for that. According to the release, the phone-in threats were made on the Election Watch programme, hosted by one Mutala on Thursday,25th October,2012 on Radio gold ,an Accra based radio station. The youth wing according to the release have therefore made a formal complaint to the police to immediately arrest the two individuals, whose free movement have now become a threat to the life of Hon. Kennedy Agyepong. A comment made by an alleged member of the communication team of the NDC stated that a decision has been reached by the party not to hand over power to Nana Addo even if he is declared winner, according to the release is also a way of subverting the constitution and its punishable by death. "The young wing of the NPP however, have equated the threat comments and breach of the constitution allegedly asserted by alleged members of the NDC communication team as criminal in nature and therefore call for the heads of the threat makers and also appealed to the National Media Commission to suspend Mutala,the host of the show for allowing the callers to use his medium to perpetrate a preconceived plan to murder." The issue according to the release has been reported to the Nima Police station with the recorded program on which the threat comments were made, for further studies to aid them in their investigations.
