Akufo Addo Will Deliver - Kufuor Tells Ghanaians

Former President Kufuor Friday urged Ghanaians to have faith in the ability of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Presidential Candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party, to deliver to meet their aspirations if elected as the president of the nation in the upcoming December 7 polls. The former president described Nana Akufo-Addo as an action and results oriented person who has a strong passion for the socio-economic development of the country, stressing: he was part of my government and I can testify of his ability to deliver on the things he has been saying. Mr Kufuor, who was addressing NPP members and sympathisers during the Have Your Say programme organised by Oman FM at Nungua in the Krowor constituency, added that the electorate would do a lot of disservice to the nation if they should make the mistake of voting to retain the ruling National Democratic Congress in power for another four years. He urged Ghanaians to reject President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC who lack the creative ability to create the needed resources to offer free senior high education for the nation. They dont know how to manage the nations resources; they dont know how to create; lets kick out the unproductive NDC, and bring back the creative NPP to continue the good work we had started for the nation, Mr Kufuor stated. President Kufuor found it difficult to understand the argument by President Mahama and his NDC that the time is not ripe for the nation to offer free SHS education for its citizens, adding if we were able to begin free basic education at a time we did not have oil money, and at a time we did not have gas, why should anybody think proving free secondary education is not a possibility? He urged Ghanaians not to waste their time voting for pessimists who do not look at the brighter side of life, but only have the negative mentality that the nation cannot do what others had been able to do before. Former President Kufuor urged the electorate to do a critical assessment of their living conditions under the John Mahama-Amissah-Arthur-led NDC government and compare it with what prevailed under the previous NPP government under his presidency as they prepare to go to the polls on December 7. According to the former president, any objective assessment will lead to the conclusion that the NPP is a better option to the NDC. He regretted that a lot of businesses in the country were collapsing due to the inability of their owners to raise the needed financial resources, as well as the ever-dwindling purchasing power of the people. We now live in a country, where business people do not have access to credit to set up businesses or expand their existing operations, but when we were in power the banks were chasing people with loans. What has happened within the last four years? That should tell you the difference between the NDC and the NPP, Mr Kufuor stated. He reminded the electorate about the solid economic foundation laid by the previous NPP government under his presidency, as well as the many social interventions programmes the government initiated to enhance the wellbeing of the people. The NDC had every opportunity to build upon the solid foundation we had laid, looking at the resources available to them, but they have failed to do so. But I want to assure you that you are going to have President Akufo-Addo who has the ability to lead a team of competent men and women to build upon that foundation, Mr Kufuor said. The former president also appealed to the electorate in the Krowor constituency to vote massively for Nii Ayikoi Otoo, NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the area, to ensure effective articulation of their concerns and problems. Nii Ayikoi Otoo, a renowned lawyer and former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, called for unity among all members of the party to ensure effective campaign that would lead to a resounding victory in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.
