Ofosu Ampofo Leads Clean-up Campaign In Tema

Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development has called on Ghanaians to embrace the National Sanitation programme to avoid environmental-related diseases. He declared that clean-up exercises should not be left in the hands of only sanitation related organizations. Mr Ampofo made this call when he led some Chief Executives to clean the Tema Metropolis in line with the national exercise to rid the country of filth. The Minister whose sector is leading the national exercise together with Zoom Alliance, went to the Tema Community 2 BBC area to desilt gutters and clear weeds after cleaning the Community One market center area. He was joined b y the mayor of Tema, Mr. Robert Kempes Ofosuware to collect and evacuate refuse in a waiting sanitation truck. The Minister and the team from the national task force also visited Nungua to undertake similar exercises, where he advised residents to show interest in keeping the environment clean. At Nungua, the Minister was joined by Daniel Amartey, Municipal Chief Executive for the Ledzokuku Krowor Assembly to take part in the exercise. Every week until the elections and beyond, the National Sanitation Taskforce will be cleaning the country to fight filth in fulfillment of the President�s policy of cleaning the country when he gave his policy statement after assuming office.
