A 25-year-old farmer has been arrested by the police for allegedly stabbing his mother-in-law, Madam Ekua Mansa in Nkawkaw, Eastern Region.
Narrating the incident on Peace Fm's Midday news on Wednesday, Eastern Regional correspondent,Michael Akrofie, said the farmer, Kojo Omare, had a quarrel with his wife Ekua Amankwah which made her pack out of their matrimonial home with their children to her mother�s house.
According to him when Kojo Omare returned from farm on Tuesday to realize that his wife and children had not returned, he confronted his mother-in-law(Madam Ekua Mansa)accusing her of encouraging her daughter to stay in her (mother-in-law) house and being the person behind most of the constant disagreements that ensues between himself and his wife.
He stabbed her with his cutlass immediately, after a heated argument between himself and his mother-in-law.
In an attempt to save Madam Ekua Mansa,a gentleman whose name was given as Maxwell also had his right hand chopped off.
44-year-old Madam Akua Mansa died on the spot and her body has since being deposited at the Atibie Government hospital.
Meanwhile,Maxwell, has been admitted at the St. Joseph�s Hospital in Nkawkaw responding to treatment.
When Police Commander, DCP Kofi Wirenkyi was contacted, he confirmed that Kojo Omare has been arrested and investigations are still ongoing.
