NPP Promises Are Inconsistent Asiedu Nketia

The General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has accused the Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo and his campaign team of not thinking through their policy options before churning them out. When they present a policy statement and it is criticized for lack of something that they had to have added, they will come back and add it, he said. President John Mahama has described the promise by Mr. Akufo-Addo of building hostels to accommodate head potters - Kayayei - in Ghana as insulting to the dignity of northern girls. But the NPP has stated that the Presidents comment is indicative that he has completely lost touch with the concerns and aspirations of the suffering masses of Ghana as the head potters are constantly abused and have to endure the hazards of sleeping unprotected on urban streets and pavements and therefore the hostel is a necessary measure. Speaking on the Citi Eyewitness News on Thursday, Mr. Nketia opined that nobody takes the NPP serious because of the inconsistency in their promises and policies. He said: When they talked about free SHS and they were attacked, then they said they will add free basic school. And when they said well, you claim you want to cure unemployment but it is technical schools and technical training that will create the jobs, then they said they will add free technical schools and so on. So they keep on adding so it tells you that they dont think through their policy options. Why didnt they add the option of training when they were espousing the policy in the first place? Mr. Nketia questioned.
