Presidents Convoy Killed Nobody - N/R Police

The Police in the Northern Region have confirmed that President Mahamas convoy did not kill two supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Yape in the region. Earlier reports indicated that two motor bike riders and one pregnant woman were killed by the convoy when the president arrived in the area on his campaign tour over the weekend. In an interview with Citi News, Northern Regional Police PRO, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh said the two NDC supporters who died was as a result of a motor bike display for the arrival of the president. What we have picked from the grounds is that these were motor riders who were involved in acrobatics. Whenever their candidates are arriving in the town, they engage in all kinds of acrobatics, he stated. ASP Tetteh also opined, During one of these, two motor riders crashed. Three of them were rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital where two died and have been buried in accordance to Islamic tradition. Relatives of the deceased have not reported the matter formally to the police but rumours circulating have indicated that it was as a result of the presidents convoy that is why we are coming out to clear the air, he said.
