Prez Mahama Pays Tribute To VEEP Aliu Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama paid a glowing tribute to the late former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama on Sunday describing him as a disciplined business man and an honourable man whose demise has afforded Ghanaians another opportunity to unite. According to him, Alhaji Aliu Mahama�s passing has "thrown our nation yet again into a state of mourning and has ignited our collective sense of nationhood to rally together in mutual support and solidarity.� President Mahama said the former veep was �always a moderate voice in the often heated political discourse that characterized the times.� He was paying his last respects to Alhaji Aliu Mahama at a short funeral ceremony held in his honour at the Independence Square in Accra Sunday. �Aliu Mahama lived a distinguished life epitomizing the finest combination of excellence in public service and success in private practice and dedication to the nation in the second highest office of the land as vice president,� President Mahama said. Praising the former vice president as a man who pursued discipline to the point of undertaking a national campaign while serving as Vice President, Mr Mahama described him as having a �sense of great discipline�. �May God to give us the strength to bear this grief, the unity to transcend this sadness and the healing to remain steadfast in the pursuit of the greater good of our nation and our people,� the President prayed.
