As part of its commitment to the Rural Water Sub-Sector, government is to provide funding from the Consolidated fund for the delivery of 20,000 boreholes over a five year period effective last year to 2015.
As an initial step, 5,440 boreholes are being drilled. This year, 17 million Ghana cedis has been released by government for the drilling of one thousand and 90 boreholes. Currently 1000 of the numbers have been drilled with the remaining 90 still in progress.
The Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing E.T. Mensah announced this when he took his turn at the Meet the Press series in Accra.
