Teye-Nyaunu Lose Lower Manya To Terlarbi

Mr Michael Teye-Nyaunu, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Lower Manya Krobo seat has lost to Mr Ebenezer Okletey Terlarbi, the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister. Mr Nyaunu who lost the NDC primaries to Mr Terlarbi contested the seat as an independent candidate and polled 3,658 whilst Terlarbi polled 24,367 votes. Voters at some four polling stations were still voting as of 6.30pm Friday and even before the results were declared, some NDC supporters were celebrating in the contest that most people expected the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to win because of the Michael Teye Nyaunu factor. Mr Nyaunu went independent after losing the NDC primary to the Deputy Minister. The NPP had been counting on the NDC divided front in the constituency to win the seat but that hope slipped away. The NDC was able to break into some strongholds of the NPP in the main Odumase-Krobo township while maintaining its grips on the Kpong and Agomanya. Speaking to Gaphic.com.gh, Mr Terlarbi said, I feel great. With the exception some hitches here and there, everything went well, he said. Attempts to speak to the NPP candidate, Ms Dedo Difie Kusi Agyarko and Mr Nyaunu had so far not been successful.
