FDB Boss' Santasi Residence Bombed

The Kadjasi-Santasi residence of Dr. Stephen Opuni, Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Board, has been attacked by unidentified men. The two successive attacks occurred Friday, December 7, 2012. Speaking to TV 3s William Evans Nkum, Dr. Opuni explained that he was not home when the "explosion attack" occurred. He said he had been in Accra on Thursday but was called on phone by a brother upon returning to Kumasi to cast his ballot. My brother told me that the caretaker of my house has called to inform him there has been two explosions in my house in Santasi, Dr. Opuni told the media after showing them the charred spots on his compound. He said when he got back to the house signs showed that there has been an attack. He intimated that he has reported the matter to the police, who immediately launched an investigation into the incident. Nonetheless, Dr Opuni expressed concern noting that it comes a few days after receiving threatening text messages on his phone. Dr. Opuni was fingered by Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Member of Parliament of Manhyia Constituency, in skirmishes that rocked Ashanti Newtown a few days ago, resulting in hospitalization of one Maphus, who sustained gun-shot wounds. Dr. Opuni said the bomb attack may be implementation of the content of the text message, which read Boss we all have one life....It is not only Kumasi that will be unsafe. So will your house and hometowns, and families and hiding place will go overboard. I have reported this to the police.
