Failing Love Charm Causes Man To Kill Mallam

A middle-aged man has been arrested for allegedly killing a Mallam who had given the man a love charm which failed to work. The suspect, identified as Imoro Mumuni, 47, had sought for spiritual help from Mallam Yakubu Issaku, 55, to entice his estranged wife to return to her matrimonial home at Tanokrom Top Three, near Sefwi Akontobra in the Western Region. However, after he had collected the charm and waited for some time, Mumuni realized that the charm could not work. He then vented his frustration on Issaku, alias Charles Taylor, on New Years Eve. According to the Sefwi Police, the suspect allegedly went to Issakus residence and beat him to death. After the attack, and realising that the Mallam was virtually dead, Mumuni fled the scene. However, before Issaku breathed his last, he managed to mention Mumuni as the suspect to neighbours who had been attracted to the scene. The Sefwi Municipal Police Commander, DSP Raymond Kofi Erzuah, told Daily Graphic Thursday that after his arrest, Mumuni admitted the offence. Mumuni was said to have told the police that the Mallam demanded the payment of a deposit of GH80 for the preparation of the love charm which failed to work.
