The Environmentally Concerned Citizens Association of Ghana, ECCAG has congratulated President John Dramani Mahama for his election as President of Ghana. The Association has also extended its felicitations to the chiefs and people of Ghana for their role in ensuring peaceful elections in the country even though the result is being contested at the Supreme Court. This is contained in a statement issued and signed by its National President J.Y Aidoo. The statement called on chiefs and people in Ghana to continue to support the government in its effort at building a Better Ghana where the citizenry will enjoy the benefits of their labour. The Association pleaded with the President and the Vice President to put in all the necessary measures to help fight illegal chainsaw operations leading to the destruction of the ecology, illegal mining, and the frequent fire outbreaks across the country. The Association promised to live by its motto and called on all Ghanaians irrespective of their political, religious and social standings to help green Ghana.
