Mortal remain of Late Kamel laid to rest

The mortal remains of the late Henry Ford Kamel, Volta Regional Minister, and Member of Parliament (MP) for Buem Constituency, was on Saturday interned at a private graveyard at Guaman after burial and memorial service that was led by Most Reverend Gabriel A. A.Mante, Bishop of Jasikan Diocese of the Catholic Church. In attendance to pay their last respect, was a high powered government delegation, led by the Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, Mr Edward Doe Adjaho, Speaker of Parliament, Mr Prosper Douglas Bani, Chief of Staff, Dr Kwabena Adjei and Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Chairman and General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, MPs, current and former Ministers of State, Mr Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, Minority Leader, chiefs, heads of departments, party supporters and members of the public. In a homily, Most Rev. Mante said death was inevitable and a transition to a new world full of bliss, tranquility and joy, which must be acceptable to Christians. He said death. Therefore, guarantees full life, devoid of hatred, jealousy, unjustifiable vilification, and cautioned Christians to lead upright lifestyles ordained by Christendom to benefit from �life after death.� Bishop Mante said death is �birth into a new world of peace and rest and when it knocks at our doors we should be honourous irrespective of age. What should bother mankind is quality of life in relation with God.� Is life honoured and generous to one another, the underprivileged, the powerless and the down-trodden.?� Most Rev Mante said: �we are mortals and must devote our devoutness to each other and fear God as Christ taught.� Vice President Amissah-Arthur urged the people to incorporate the modesty, honesty, commitment, dedication to duty and affability of the late Minister into their endeavours, and said late Kamel usually replaces tensioned and angered situations with solemnity and peace, which were his strongest attributes. Vice President Amissah-Arthur thanked Ghanaians for showing affection even during the death of Kamel, commending the Buem Traditional Area and the Jasikan District for producing a gem like him. Mr Clement Humado, Minister of Food and Agriculture, on behalf of MPs and Volta Caucus of Parliament in a tribute, eulogised the late Kamel as astute, peaceful, hard working and intelligent, saying �our colleague is gone but memories of his life and with each blowing wind, we hear snippets of things he used to say, the contributions�.� He said his contributions in Parliament dwelt on the eastern corridor roads, tourism and alignment of Polytechnic and University education among others. Identifiable organisations, including Volta Regional House of Chief, the widow, children and family paid glowing tributes to the memory of the late Kamel. He left a widow Mrs Helen Kamel and three daughters behind.
