CAF Inspectors Will Check On African Stadiums

The Confederation of African Football says it will carry out inspections of all stadiums on the continent that teams will use for their qualifiers for the 2015 Nations Cup. CAF made the announcement last Friday before the start of the general assembly in Marrakech, as it prepares for next year's draw for the 2015 Nations Cup finals in Morocco. According to the continent's sport governing body, any stadium which fails to meet the standard will not be permitted to host a qualifying match. "CAF will proceed with inspections of the stadiums in Africa. Stadiums which do not meet CAF standards, i.e. stadiums which are unable to host club competitions or matches between national teams will be removed from CAFs list. "CAF will provide each national association with the conditions to which stadium(s) must adhere in order to meet their specific requirements," a statement from the governing body read. The 2015 Africa Cup finals will be the second, after the just-ended tournament in South Africa, to be held in an odd year after the revised calendar of hosting Africas premier football event was switched.
