AFAG Set For Positive Defiance

Political Pressure group Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) insists it will embark on next weeks planned demonstration despite attempts by police to restrain them from using certain routes. Even though they have notified the police about the intended demonstration, the police are not happy about the route they have chosen. The police say the ministry area remains a security zone and warned that AFAG will be violating the Public Order Act if the group goes ahead with the demonstration without the approval. But the group insists with or without the police, they will still go on the demonstration. AFAG SET FOR POSITIVE DEFIANCE The Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) is by this declaration assuring the general public, that the group is not moved by attempts by the Ghana Police force to scuttle its much publicized miekuku demonstration slated for Tuesday, March 26 2013. As a group, we find the excuse by the police service to the effect that the entire ministries area is a security zone as untenable, considering the fact that our checks have revealed, that several groups have not too long ago used the same routes to demonstrate. What has changed all of a sudden? In all we smell a clandestine attempt by the incompetent and insensitive Mahama led NDC government to use the police service to once again scuttle our plans. However, unlike time past, we wish to assure the Ghana Police Force and the unseen hands dictating the pace of affairs, that we are resolute, resolved and adequately prepared to face any opposition with equal and even more superior force should the need arise. We wish to reiterate to all that the routes for the Mieku demonstration are unchanged and remains as follows; Obra spot through Nkrumah Avenue to Farisco Traffic light, turn left to the TUC building to Cedi House through to the Ministries traffic light. At the traffic light, we would turn left, go behind the Ministry of Communications, through the Ohene Djan Stadium to the Osu Cemetery traffic light. From there, we would turn left towards Parliament House, where the leadership of AFAG would present a petition to the leadership of parliament. After the presentation, leadership would join the demonstrators to march to the childrens park, where the gathering would be addressed by the organizers of the event. Thank you.
