Extend Retirement Age To 65...

Daasebre Dr. Oti Boateng, Omanhene of New Juaben, has advocated the extension of the retirement age of 60 to 65 years so that experts can work for a longer period. He explained that this would enable experienced professionals to impart their experiences and knowledge to young workers to ensure smooth continuity and national development. Dasebre Oti Boateng made the call at a reception, organized to mark his 75th birthday celebration at his palace in Koforidua. He said: Ghana continue to lose more expertise because the compulsory retirement age of 60 is not allowing workers to stay longer on the job market. Daasebre Oti Boateng also appealed to the authorities said to formulate a new vibrant policy to take care of the aged because some of pensioners die too early due to suffering they go through after retirement. He said some countries were developing rapidly because they extended their pension years to make room for bureaucrats to bring their expertise to bear on national development. Daasebre Oti Boateng commended the people of New Juaben for supporting him since he ascended the stool as Omanhene. Madam Helen Adjoa Ntoso, Eastern Regional Minister, congratulated the chief for the successes he has chalked up, and prayed for God to give him longer life . She said 75 years in ones life was no mean achievement and thanked God for his life, and presented assorted drinks and a birthday cake to the Omanhene. Madam Ntoso gave the assurance that she would work with the traditional rulers of the area towards development.
