Fair Wages And Salaries Commission Is A Useless Organization NPP Activist

A Member of the Communications Team of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has described the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) as a useless organization. Richard Asante Yeboah believes the incompetency of the FWSC has led to the numerous strike actions in the country recently. The issues are that, Fair Wages and Salaries Commission appears to be a very useless organization. They are so terrible and one cannot tell what they are doing there. One amazing aspect of their inefficiency is that, if they try to solve problems and it proves futile and the President steps in, then they (FWSC) go on radio running commentary, he asserted. Richard Asante Yeboah argues that the Commission has woefully failed to discharge its duty to negotiate salaries and allowances on behalf of government to ensure harmony in the labour front. Must all government agencies go on strike before the FWSC see to it that there is no disparity in their salaries? In terms of their job execution to pay workers salaries, they have not been able to do that for the past years, he said. Speaking on Asempa FM, the NPP Communicator also question the timing of the payment of gratuities and emoluments to former Members of Parliament. The issue is the timing of the payment of ex-gratia to former Ministers and Members of Parliament it has become a major problemthe problem is, while teachers have been crying for increment in salaries for the past year and yet have not been fully paid, government has been able to source funds to pay ex-gratia to former MPs. Ministry of Education as well as the Sports Ministry overspent their budget in 2012 and yet not accounted forWhy cant they (government) hear teachers plight? he asked.
