The Embattled Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Bertha Ansah-Djan, otherwise referred to as Bertha Sogah, has denied being asked by President John Mahama to proceed on leave for inverstigations to begin into the allegations levelled against her.
Speaking on Radio Gold Friday, Mrs. Sogah revealed that though she couldn�t undertake her official duties at MASLOC, she however is not on leave.
There were media reports that President Mahama had asked the MASLOC Boss to step aside for investigations to be held into the allegations of fraud, conflict of interest and the diversion of funds into her personal bank accounts.
A Daily Graphic publication on Friday, April 05, 2013 disclosed that Mrs. Sogah had embezzled �an amount of GHC 500000 (C5billion) from the accounts of the state-run organization and handling it over to a private company owned by her husband.�
It further quoted the C.E.O of MASLOC to have said that �there was nothing wrong with her husband benefitting from the MASLOC magnanimity.�
She was alleged to have taken �undue advantage of her position as CEO of MASLOC to develop a fraudulent scheme which enabled her to divert monies belonging to MASLOC into her son and husband�s company, Amisgold Microfinance Services Ltd, to the tune of five hundred thousand Ghana cedis (GHC 500,000).�
In respect of this development, she was asked to put down her working tools until investigations are conducted to ascertain the veracity of the situation.
But it appears she has not been served with any notice to either step down or go on leave, as she blurted out these words in an interview on Radio Gold�s newspaper review; �I really would wait and talk to those issues at a later date. I�m not in my office. I�m not on leave�, suggesting that she will volunteer the details sooner or later.
