The Appointments Committee of Parliament will start the vetting of 34 deputy ministers of state-designate nominated by the President from Wednesday, April 10. 14 will be vetted this week. Those to be vetted on Wednesday are the deputy minister-designate for Justice and Attorney-General�s Department, Dr Dominic Akurintinga Ayine, deputy minister-designate for Lands and Natural Resources, Babara Serwaa Asamoah. On Thursday, April 11 those who would appear before the Appointments Committee are Ambassador Thomas Kwesi Quartey, deputy minister-designate for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration; Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, a deputy minister-designate for Local Government and Rural Development; Dr Bernice Adiku Heloo, a deputy minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Mrs Joyce Bewa-Motgatri, deputy minister for Transport and Ricketts Kweku Hagan, a deputy minister-designate for Finance. Those who would be vetted on Friday, April 12 are Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, deputy minister-designate for Defence; Dr Tia Sugri, deputy minister-designate for Ministry of Health; Alex Kyeremeh, Deputy minister-designate for Education; Yaw Effah Baafi, deputy minister-designate for Lands and Natural Resources and James Agalaga, deputy minister-designate for Interior. The remaining 19 deputy ministers-designate will be vetted next week from Monday to Thursday. Even though parliament is on recess the vetting by the Appointments Committee is seen as very important, and members will accordingly convene to consider the appointment of the deputy ministers. In furtherance of the impending vetting, members of the public are being notified to send written memoranda on any of the nominees that will guide the Appointments Committee in its work.
