NPP Communicator: Azontaba Means Scratch My Back and Let Me Scratch Your Back

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team, Isaac Acheampong has alleged that President Mahama is a replica of corruption, saying Ghanaians have done themselves a great sin and that the reward of it is what the President and his cronies are meting out to them. He explained that the interest of the President is to go around the globe to sign contracts which he hopes to get his share. Speaking on Okay FM, he said that the meaning of Azontaba is scratch my back and let me scratch your back; stressing that because of corruption and bribery, the President and Azontaba have formed an alliance to come up with the guinea fowl project to loot the state funds. He analyzed that the sale of 1,000 guinea fowls in Accra now can raise a profit of Ghc15,000 which according to him such an amount can purchase 100,000 guinea fowls; adding that the idea that Ghc47 million has been used for the tree planting and rearing of guinea fowls is too much which needs to be probed. He stressed that as at now nobody can tell how many trees can be accounted for and to him the amount used to purchase the trees is not known; adding that it is strange that the President will want to invest this huge money in a tree planting which can be harvested in 25 years, if not for his personal interest in the investment. He alleged that he foresees deliberate attempts by the President to ransack the remaining money in the state purse; insisting that the President gives the money with one hand and receives it back with another hand, as this has been the work of President Mahama in the country. He hinted that there are many people who are rearing guinea fowls and to him it is difficult for him to understand the rationale behind the President investing this huge money to one particular company; stating that the President has a cut in the deal with the Azontaba.
