We Will Not Attend Any Meeting - GMA

The Ghana Medical Association says it cannot attend the proposed meeting scheduled for Wednesday between the Association and the National Labour Commission (NLC). General Secretary for the GMA, Dr. Frank Serebour, who disclosed the unfortunate piece of information said the group received the invitation letter less than 24 hours, thus making it difficult for their members nationwide to assemble for the meeting. Speaking in an interview on Citi FM, Dr. Serebour said: We received the letter in less than 24 hours and so we will not be attending the meeting. Our members are scattered all over the country and so you cant give us 24 hours notice to attend the meeting. How can someone from Wa pick a car to Kumasi and then to Accra within 24 hours for the meeting. Maybe our lawyers will attend but as for us we are not attending that meeting. The meeting is not even important; what is important is for them to pay us the money. All we are interested in is the payment of the money; issues are clear. We have attended over 200 meetings and I dont think this one will make a difference. Speaking in an exclusive interview with peacefmonline.com, President of the GMA, Dr. Kwabena Opoku-Adusei, affirmed that it will be impossible for them to attend because he is in Kumasi and so are other members scattered across the country; hence it will be inconvenient to get to Accra within 24 hours. When it is appropriate, we are going to meet them, he however assured.
